Meeting Gardens. Practicing the rural through art and care for sustainable and inclusive perspectives

2023, Vicenza

Let's meet among juicy gardens and imperfect spaces where gentle voices await us to dance together rural choreographies of multispecies coexistence, becoming nourishment for relationships and decentralized practices.

Meeting Gardens. Practicing the rural through art and care for sustainable and inclusive perspectives is a hybrid and itinerant annual project that moves between gardens and orchards. Meeting Gardens aims to collectively imagine sustainable and inclusive alternatives for being and acting in and with the land through interaction with local rural experiences and realities in the Vicenza area. Meeting Gardens is a collective poetic-critical effort, a practical and theoretical research project to investigate the sought-after and possible connection between art and rurality. Meeting Gardens alternative program community, the first phase of the project, is brought to life through an open call and by conducting meetings and site visits within rural realities. It gains access to skills, abilities, and knowledge in contact with the land and the languages of art, developing proposals for activities and anti-nostalgic visions related to rurality. Meeting Gardens Festival. Meleagra is a three-day multidisciplinary event in September, designed to connect cultivation-culture practices between the orchards and gardens of the city and bring different communities closer to new ways of creating the world, through projections, workshops, presentations, and the collective exhibition Uraura. Ci sono ancora semi da raccogliere e spazio nella sacca delle stelle. The project concludes with a collective publication, created from reflections, pathways, and unpublished materials based on the themes of the project.
