It is said that play and garden are two twin creatures, actually quite different from each other. Distinct and in symbiosis, since their creation they evoke each other, intertwining and mixing between desires and human relationships. This age-old duet, the result of anthropic inventions and imaginary flows activated by curiosity and the power of enchantment, arises from the need to pass time pleasantly and to escape from the everyday.
Giardino fiiii-fiùùù *Garden fiiii-fiùùù*, solo exhibition by Mirko Marcolin at the Ceramic Pavilion of Le Nove Hotel, is a multifaceted play-garden that triggers, in a contemporary key, mechanisms of amusement, transformative imaginaries, participation, and social sharing. Marcolin's works are puzzles to be deciphered with the lightness and curiosity characteristic of play, clay transformed into sculptural forms that tell stories, mythological symbols that activate daydreams, and unexpected sounds radiating from hidden gaps. It is precisely the ceramic object’s ability to contain, host, and embrace emptiness, with the perspective of a new purpose, that led the artist to make the whistle the eternal soul of his research. While the whistling sculptures evoke the dimension of play, mocking those who stop at appearances, at the same time, it is precisely through the breath that makes them sing that they come to life.
